Using the sun and ethically harvested pheasant and grouse feathers, I develop the image of the feathers on the fabric with the sun. Everything the sun touches turns a deep blue, leaving a white negative of the feathers. This is a 20x20 inch pillow. On the face of the pillow are four pheasant tail feathers coming out of the top edge, and coming out of the bottom edge is a ruffed grouse fan flanked by a pheasant tail feather on each side.
***Each pillow is slightly different because they are individually printed with the sun. The feathers leave a white negative image ranging in exposure of detail surrounded by deep blue. I arrange every feather on EACH textile piece--and develop the image on the fabric with sunlight. My artwork is inspired by the beauty of it's subject: feathers. The feathers come from ethically harvested wild birds; harvested by myself, my husband, or a close friend.
